The International KTM family turned out in droves for the first day of the 7th KTM International Festival on Friday to transform the Hungaroring into a blaze of their favourite colour – pure, tasty, refreshing orange!

With registered riders topping the limit of 850 and accompanying people that bumped the numbers up to well over 1200, there was riding fun for all. The tracks and circuits were perfectly prepared whether it was famous Formula 1 circuit, the Motocross, Supermoto or Enduro right down to Minicross for the kids.

Friday was also Motocross competition day with the 40 fastest riders from five heats contesting the final in the late afternoon on the specially prepared track in the middle of the F1 circuit. The 10-lap race was won in style by Hungarian rider Imre Adamek riding a 250SXF in 20:54.542 with Sebastien Krywult in second place and Patryk Kwasny third. But orange fizz to the race was added by the inclusion of KTM factory rider David Philippaerts. The Italian started 40 seconds behind the field and cut through the pack like a hot knife through butter, finishing in (unofficial) second place, mini crash included. Not to be outdone, Tommy Searle, vice world champion in MX2 couldn’t resist putting in four laps even though he was a late arrival at the circuit following an autograph session.

Other factory riders from the Enduro and rally teams, Ivan Cervantes and Giovanni Sala made more unusual appearances – on the catwalk of the KTM PowerWear Fashion Show - and received a rousing response from the crowd in the Festival tent. On Saturday, Ivan will be back to his usual role as Enduro Factory Team rider and current leader in the E3 class of the world championships. Hobby Enduro riders will be able to pick up tips and test themselves in competition, an event that will certainly be another highlight here at the Hungaroring where everyone is “Ready to Race”, to hang out with like minded spirits or simply to admire and lovingly stroke their favourite KTM machines.
