Enduro riders revelled in perfect conditions on a specially prepared track in the middle of the Hungaroring on Day 2 of the 7th International Festival when 210 enthusiasts took part in the competition. This highlight, among many in an action packed program, underlined that it was a true orange celebration at the famous racing circuit. Markus Auer riding a 125 EXC was the fastest over the track set in attractive woodlands on a day that was living proof that Enduro and offroad machines are firmly at the heart of KTM and enthusiasts are always “Ready to Race”.
Following an exciting motocross competition on Friday, it was also the turn of the Supermoto enthusiasts with Tim Kieß winning the race, while Super Duke riders tested themselves on the Formula One circuit ahead of Sunday’s Super Duke Battle of the Nations. Finalists had the unique opportunity to ride with one of the world’s best, Bernd “Asphalt Surfer” Hiemer, the KTM factory rider in S1 World Championship, who started at the back of the field and delivered a world class exhibition of riding.
Spirits were high at the Festival where some 1500 people, including more than 850 registered riders gathered for riding fun and experiences ranging from guided motorcycles tours to watching the breathtaking stunt air show by ace pilot Peter Besenyei of Red Bull Air Race fame. The Hungarian pilot stopped hearts with his daredevil aerial antics, including landing right in front of the grandstand on the famous racing circuit.
Tommy Searle, KTM factory rider and freshly crowned Vice-World Champion in MX2 spoke for many when he said: “It’s a great atmosphere, everyone is having fun.” The British teenager was unable to resist riding a few more laps on the motocross circuit again on Saturday, just for the fun of it. “Its nice soft ground, just the way I like it!” Tommy said. Red Bull KTM Road Racing Factory Riders Hiroshi Aoyama and Tomoyoshi Koyama were also out on the motocross circuit having fun, while Koyama even did a couple of turns on the Minicross circuit. Road racing team-mate Steve Bonsey tried his luck on the Supermoto circuit. “Its great here,” the young American rider said. “I am really having fun.”
The day was not only one for riding fun but also for those who wanted to enjoy the stunt and freestyle shows or to simply admire the sleek orange motorcycle machines and the amazing KTM X-Bow. The brand new sports car has been creating a furore in motoring circles since it was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2006.
